About us
History
The Diocese of Kumi, located in Eastern Uganda, was carved out of the Diocese of Soroti commissioned on 21st July 2001, with 30 church parishes. It covers Bukedea, Kumi, and Ngora districts. The Diocese has had three leadership phases:
- Rt. Rev. Thomas Edison Irigei (2001 - 2019), First Bishop
- Bishop John Charles Odurkami, Caretaker Bishop (2019 - 2022)
- Rt. Rev. Michael Okwii Esakhan, 2nd Bishop, (Sitting Bishop) consecrated and enthroned on 6th March 2022.
The Diocese has steadily grown in membership, infrastructure, institutions, and outreach programs since its formation.
